About USAS

United Students Against Sweatshops (USAS) is a student organization fighting for workers’ rights at home and abroad.

Fall 2010 meetings are scheduled to be at 6:00 pm on Mondays.

We don’t yet have a room reserved, so our first meeting (on 9/27/10) will be on the library side of the Oval.  We’ll have our big red USAS banner so you can find us.  New members and curious people are always welcome!  Also, this meeting will be a brief (~30 min) introduction to the group and current campaign for those interested, followed by a break and strategic meeting.  Everyone is welcome to stay for all of it but should not feel obligated to do so.

United Students Against Sweatshops (USAS) is a grassroots, student run,  non-profit organization that has been organizing for student and worker power since 1997.

OSU USAS has been fighting alongside workers on campus and abroad since the early 2000s. We have been involved with campus worker contract fights, pressuring the university to stop doing business with corporations that choose to exploit garment workers who make our collegiate apparel.

Current Campaigns

We are currently fighting to keep Dallas Cowboys Merchandising from receiving an exclusive contract with OSU, which would hurt local business, and leave workers who make our collegiate apparel open to further exploitation. Concurrently we are continuing our fight to kick out Sodexo.  As the 21st largest company in the world, Sodexo should not be intimidating, abusing, and disrespecting workers on the Ohio State University campus. We continue to tell the administration that they cannot continue doing business with a known human rights abuser.
