Sodexo Rally at the Opening of the Union!

On Monday, March 29, A combination of Ohio State students, Sodexo workers, and union organizers protested at the opening of Ohio State’s new student union, costing $118 million. Protestors had banners, flyers, noisemakers, a bullhorn, and made quite some noise! Banners read “Clean Up Sodexo” and “Good Jobs for Our Campus”. Protestors chanted “What’s outrageous? Sweatshop wages! What’s disgusting? Union busting!” and “O-H-I-O! Clean up Sodexo!”. The aim of the protest was Sodexo, a food service company Ohio State pays to manage food service at sporting events. Sodexo has a history of racism, sexism, sexual harassment, poverty wages, and forcing workers to work off the clock.  Ohio State’s school newspaper, The Lantern, published an article focusing on the protests the following day, which is available here.
